It's amazing how much he still looks like him. He also plays a Zack Attack song!

Video Flashback: New Found Glory (first major album)

I've had my fair share of long distance relationships. One of the most intense was between 1999-2001. This song was on a CD that I played all the time, and this is definitely one of my favorite songs of all time.

I never saw the video for it til recently, and it has Rachel Leigh Cook in it!

You're not here
and I can't stop pretending that you're forever mine.
And I...

I can't dream anymore
Since You Left.

I miss you singing me to sleep (to sleep)
I can't wake anymore
In Your Arms.

I miss you singing me to sleep.

"Cheer up" my friends all say...
This band was one of the ones that influenced my bass style.

And here was the song that made me fall in love with them. I actually watched this video to study the bassist's style (especially how to jump around with a bass on)

Have I waited too long?
Have I found that someone?
Have I waited to long
to see you?

Stevie Wonder: For Once in my life, and some thoughts

First of all, enjoy:

Wikipedia Link for song
Ron Miller, who was one of the writers of this song, wrote it about his baby daughter. He married a filipina, which means this awesome song is about a half filipino. I just thought that fact was cool.

On the flipside, after googling for the video, I came across the one i've posted at the top. Here's how I imagined it went down:

Assistant to Mr. Wonder: "The lights are designed pretty well, we're using state of the art recording as well."

Mr. Wonder: "Great! How are the dancers?"

Asst: "oh um, they're fantastic. Choreography's top notch...um. yeah"

Mr. Wonder: "you don't sound so sure"

Other Asst: "Oh don't worry, these are some fine a$$ b*tches up in this joint. They know how to wiggle."

Mr. Wonder: "Okay, i trust you"

SRSLY? Do you SEE that dancing? I mean i know it was decades ago but that had to be bad back then too!?

Video Flashback: Lostprophets, Incubus

These songs aren't that old but they definitely remind me of a different period of my life.

I was just feeling these two songs. I think maybe i want to scream? not sure why.

Lost Prophets - Rooftops

Standing on the rooftops
Waiting till the bombs drop
This is all we got now
Scream until your heart stops
Never gonna regret
Watching every sunset
Listen to your heartbeat
All the love that we found

This song came on pandora tonight and I love the lyrics to this song. I think it's just that it makes me want to get on a roof overlooking a city and scream with my eyes closed. Not so that anyone can hear me, but to get it all out.

Come to think of it there are a lot of songs that make me want to get out and scream.

[[And then that reminded me of this video, one of my favorite Incubus songs and one of the more creative videos. Doesn't hurt that Brandon Boyd was a high school crush of mine...*ahem*

Warning

I suggest we
learn to love ourselves
before it's made illegal

Love that lyric.]]

Late night EDIT:
So I think I was also thinking of this Lostprophets song. So i guess you get a lostprophet/incubus sandwich.

Lost Prophets - Last Train Home
But we sing
If we're going nowhere
Yeah we sing
If it's not enough
And we sing
Sing without a reason
To ever fall in love

Video Flashback: Kenny Lattimore - For You ..+ awesome cover i found

Okay so i thought a bit bout whether or not i should put this up.

Not too many people really know this song, it's one of those songs that when i first heard it i was just entranced by the guy's voice + lyrics + melody.

Kenny Lattimore - For You

The guy's voice is just.......dayum.

I know. I know. I KNOW. it's such a sappy love song. but if people can have coke as a bad habit, can i please have 90s love songs. please. thanks.

I was also SUPER impressed by this kid's cover. Looks like he did it for another girl. Aw. internet love. remember those?

Video Flashback: Eve 6 - Inside Out

Eve 6 automatically reminds me of my first high school, when i stopped wearing nike branded jackets and started figuring out that i belong in the goodwill shopping crew. the bright colored videos...the singing. i remember this is when i was dressing super alterna.

This was a good time

Inside Out
"So Cali's where my mind states/ but it's not my state of mind"
This is extra funny now that I live here.

So emo: "Or am i origami, folded up and just pretend"
You can't make this shit up. Wait, I guess *he* did.

and you have to love a song that starts with "I burn burn like a wicker cabinet"

Wicker cabinet indeed.

Video Flashback: Stabbing Westward Overload

They don't allow embedding, and the best quality is of course SonyBmg's files.

So here you go. I was really feeling them tonight.

Save Yourself
"If I must be lonely, I think I'd rather be . alone."

What Do I Have To Do
"If I can't make you love me just tell me what do I have to do to forget about you"

Sometimes It Hurts
"6 o'clock in the morning, my head is ready to explode"

man i love this shit.

Video Flashback: Titan A.E. & Lit

December marked me being in the mainland for over a year.

I think I'm becoming a mainlander more and more (and especially on taxes)

I'm going to start using this blog to point out great things that remind me of what makes me part of the unnamed generation.

First off:

Titan A.E.
Released 2000.

I really wanted to see this film with my boyfriend at the time, and I was never able to, still haven't.

I think it still kind of makes me sad that I never saw it with him. I might even own this movie but I still haven't.

This was back when MTV was still playing some videos, but was finding out that reality TV might be a good idea...
